Role Overview

As the Studio Leader for the architectural design team, your key responsibilities will encompass:

Directing and managing the architectural design team to ensure timely and budget-compliant project delivery while maintaining exceptional quality standards. Collaborating with the Service Management Team to foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting design excellence and best practices throughout the architectural service. Offering expert advice on architectural and construction design issues to colleagues within the council and external partners. Cultivating a collaborative atmosphere, both internally with the multidisciplinary team and externally with consultants, contractors, supply chains, and other stakeholders. Mentoring and guiding staff to promote effective performance and a fulfilling work environment, encouraging a culture of learning and development. Overseeing resource allocation and fee structuring for architectural services, ensuring cost-effective project delivery in line with the Service Management System.

Qualifications & Experience

Education : Bachelor's / Master's degree in Architectural Design. Professional Accreditation : Chartered Member of a recognized professional institution – e.g., ARB / RIBA. Experience : At least 10 years of experience in architectural practice, designing projects across all RIBA work stages. Proven experience in leading an architectural design team in a senior management capacity. Skills : Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and other pertinent industry standards. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite. Exceptional written, visual, and verbal communication abilities.

About the Capital Delivery Service

The Service manages a substantial Capital Construction Programme with an annual value of approximately £200m. With a team of over 70 professionals, the Service functions as a consultancy within the City Council, providing roles in:
