About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our team at Laurel Park School. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting our Head Chef in delivering a food-led curriculum to our students.

As a Sous Chef and Food Educator, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver an innovative vision for school food, providing fresh, tasty, and nutritious meals for our students, staff, and school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in planning, preparing, and serving meals to students and staff
  • Develop and implement a food-led curriculum, incorporating nutritional education and food skills
  • Work closely with the Chefs in Schools project to develop innovative new menu items and food concepts
  • Ensure high standards of quality and hygiene in the kitchen, adhering to health and safety procedures

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience as a Sous Chef in a school or similar environment
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of nutrition and food education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
