Job Title: Head of Religious Education

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Religious Education to lead our Religious Education department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an innovative and inclusive RE curriculum, fostering a positive learning environment, and mentoring RE teachers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive RE curriculum that reflects the diverse religious traditions and secular perspectives.
  • Department Leadership: Lead and manage the RE department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Teacher Support: Mentor and support RE teachers, providing professional development opportunities to enhance their teaching practices.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with parents, guardians, and the wider community to promote understanding and support for the RE program.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues across the school to integrate religious and ethical perspectives into the broader curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: QTS or equivalent certification.
  • Education: Holds a degree in Religious Education, Theology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Has a strong track record of successful teaching experience, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Skills: Demonstrates excellent knowledge of world religions, religious philosophies, and ethical frameworks.
  • Leadership: Exhibits outstanding leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment: Is committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the RE curriculum and the school community.
