About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Ecologist to join our UK-wide Ecology team at Stantec. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in managing complex ecological issues within project contexts, mentoring staff, engaging with clients, and supporting bids and tenders to increase the diversity of projects we deliver.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate ecological projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Mentor and support junior ecologists, providing guidance and training to help them develop their skills and expertise.
  • Engage with clients to understand their needs and develop effective solutions to meet their ecological requirements.
  • Support the development of bids and tenders, ensuring that our proposals are compelling and meet the needs of our clients.
  • Collaborate with other teams and disciplines to deliver integrated solutions that meet the needs of our clients and the environment.

Requirements
  • Extensive experience in ecological project management, with a strong understanding of UKHab classification and the Defra Metric.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and support junior ecologists.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a high degree of initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in bid development and tendering, with a strong understanding of the UK market.
