Financial Controller Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join our finance department at Eireann Recruitment Services Ltd. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing our financial activities and ensuring the accuracy of our financial records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and reconciliation of Profit and Loss and Balance sheet reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
  • Preparation of budgets and cash flow requirements for the company and monitoring these for variances.
  • Maintenance of accounting records, including monthly reconciliation of Bank accounts, Debtors control, Creditors control, and Subcontractor controls.
  • Overseeing other members of the accounting department and monitoring their work.
  • Detailed job costings of every construction project, including monthly CVR statements.
  • Collaboration with the commercial director and his team to manage and report on all aspects of financial control of Construction Projects.
  • Review and preparation of monthly payment schedules.
  • Preparation and posting of all accounting journal entries.
  • Assistance with preparation of year-end annual accounts and coordination of audit and dealing with the auditors.
  • Maintenance of detailed cash flow report to enable the company to effectively manage its cash balance.
  • Correspondence with HMRC.
  • Management and control of retentions.
  • Financial Reporting: Preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports as required.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Development of annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with department heads and senior management.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct of thorough financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
Requirements:

  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance.
