Role Overview

The Mortgage Processing Expert will take ownership of a portfolio of mortgage applications, guiding them from initial approval through to successful completion. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient management of applications while maintaining clear communication with all involved parties to align expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regularly communicate with solicitors to ensure timely completion in accordance with established policies.
  • Engage fairly and transparently with intermediaries, solicitors, and valuers, while actively seeking opportunities for new business development.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Credit Risk teams to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Address and resolve complex customer inquiries effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies while exercising sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Manage customer interactions, especially in challenging situations, to achieve satisfactory outcomes.
  • Verify the completeness of applications prior to authorizing fund releases.
  • Support the release of funds to solicitors as necessary.
  • Maintain an organized case pipeline, adhering to service standards and managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Provide support to colleagues during their absence, ensuring continuity of service.
  • Account for the quality of applications submitted for fund release, ensuring adherence to internal guidelines.
  • Review all correspondence to confirm compliance with lending criteria.
  • Process all correspondence according to established procedures.
  • Handle complaints in line with the company’s complaint resolution procedures, escalating when necessary.
  • Resolve queries from both internal and external sources.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Propose improvements to current processes and systems.
  • Assist in implementing changes to systems or processes as required.
  • Serve as a point of contact for junior team members, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure adherence to the principles of Treating Customers Fairly and the Prevention of Financial Crime.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated integrity and commitment to fair customer treatment.
  • Strong understanding of the business and market dynamics.
  • Ability to adhere to policies and procedures, staying informed of updates.
  • Accountability for risk management in daily operations.
  • Proven track record in achieving business targets and performance metrics.
  • Experience in processing or administrative roles is essential.
  • Strong telephone communication skills, particularly in complaint resolution.
  • Background in Financial Services is required.
  • Technical knowledge of financial services related to both simple and complex transactions.
