York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) is on the lookout for adaptable and personable Cleaning and Food Service Associates to enhance our team at Bridlington Hospital. No prior experience is required as comprehensive training will be provided; however, a readiness to learn and improve your skills is crucial.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of this position involve ensuring cleanliness across designated areas and delivering food services.

Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining cleanliness in your assigned ward/area according to the established cleaning schedule, which may involve lifting items and using industrial cleaning equipment.
  • Conducting specialized cleaning tasks as directed by the Facilities Supervisor, Nurse in Charge, or Infection Prevention Department.
  • Assisting in meal distribution to wards.
  • Preparing meals while adhering to patients' dietary needs.
  • Providing hot beverages and managing the cleanliness and refilling of water containers.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good basic education, including reading, writing, and basic numeracy skills.
  • Willingness to complete necessary training in infection prevention and control, as well as Food Hygiene Level 2.
  • Customer service training (to be completed within six months of starting employment).

Desirable:

  • BICSc Qualification/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning/Catering or equivalent.
  • Experience with industrial cleaning equipment.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential:

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience in the cleaning industry.
  • Experience working within the NHS.
  • Ability to operate small and large cleaning equipment.
