Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer for Combined Heat and Power Systems

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Gold Group, a leading provider of renewable Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and generator solutions. As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing electrical systems for our CHP and power generation systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical systems for CHP and power generation systems, ensuring compliance with UK electrical regulations and industry standards.
  • Work closely with mechanical engineering teams to identify project deliverables and coordinate M&E designs.
  • Participate in internal and customer-facing design review meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain electrical designs, including electrical layouts, infrastructure, control panels, and distribution systems.
  • Collaborate with Draughtsman to ensure timely and accurate design packages.
  • Design and develop complex fuel storage and transfer control systems, including trace heating, UPS battery support, and fire system interface.
  • Work closely with project delivery teams and specialist subcontractors to ensure correct installation processes and continuous improvement practices.
  • Develop, write, and review commissioning processes and ongoing maintenance schemes.
Requirements:
  • BEng in an electrical or electromechanical design discipline or equivalent experience and competence.
  • Experience of designing building infrastructure systems, including power distribution, earthing integration, BMS & BEMS control systems, cable containment, fire & security systems, and cable sizing.
  • Knowledge of ComAP control systems and other relating third-party hardware to implement full-scale plant Balance of Plant control systems.
  • Experience of designing containerised or packaged solutions and outlining full technical details by way of drawings, fully detailed calculations, and written schemes of work.
  • Understanding of CDM regulations and other relating HSE requirements and the impact of your design against current legislation.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at any one time, prioritizing workload to support business demands.
  • Proactive approach to finding the most efficient technical solutions within a range of applications and complexities.
