About the Role

Save the Children International is seeking an experienced English to Arabic Translation Specialist to join our Global Translations Unit. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality translation services to support our humanitarian work around the world.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate complex documents from English to Arabic, adapting to the relevant locale and cultural nuances.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with subject matter experts, country office staff, and freelance linguists to ensure consistent translation services.
  • Establish and maintain English to Arabic terminology preferences at a global level, incorporating cultural and linguistic differences across the MENA region.
  • Work closely with SCI's Arabic-speaking country offices and subject matter experts to ensure accurate and culturally sensitive translations.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions on translation tools, key terminology, style, and tone of voice guidelines to relevant colleagues and translation suppliers.
Requirements
  • Significant years of professional translation experience from English to Arabic, including demonstrated experience of translating humanitarian content or working in the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience working independently within or for large organisations and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively, dealing with multiple simultaneous projects, and comfortable working with remote teams across different time zones.
  • Demonstrable experience of using CAT tools, QA tools, and terminology tools within translation workflows.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with an excellent grasp of Arabic and English grammar.
  • Experience working as part of a team within a networked structure and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and suppliers across functional and geographical boundaries.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary, flexible working hours, and the opportunity to work with a global organisation dedicated to improving the lives of children. If based in the UK, the salary is circa £47,500 per annum. National Terms & Conditions, including pay and benefits, will apply if the role is based outside of the UK.

This role can be based in the UK (London or Remote) or any existing Save the Children International Regional or Country office location on approval, provided the successful candidate has proof of eligibility to work from the preferred location for the duration of the contract.
