Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom NHS Full time
Job Title: Head of Nursing Care

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic nurse leader to join our Haematology team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust as a Lead Nurse.

The Department of Clinical Haematology provides care across our sites at Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals. We are a regional bone marrow transplant and cellular therapies centre, delivering care to a wide range of patients.

This role will encompass a clinical component, with provision of leadership and service development support to the transplant nursing team based at QE hospital and non-transplant clinical nurse specialist teams based across all 4 sites. You will be fully supported to identify an achievable clinical caseload and will be supported in your ongoing professional development.

In partnership with the haematology matron and other speciality lead nurses, you will lead a team of professionals/practitioners, working closely with the medical, allied health professional and other clinical and non-clinical staff, to provide a high quality, effective, efficient and person-centred service. Leadership for service development, evaluation and quality improvement, and contributing to education and research, are expected and supported as part of the role.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Provide expert clinical care, exercising professional autonomy within their field of expertise.
  2. Co-lead a team of professionals/practitioners to provide a high quality, effective and efficient service.
  3. Raise the profile of the service at local, national and international level.
  4. Participate in the provision of specialist education and training programmes.
About Us:

We are recognised as one of the leading NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK. Our commitment to our staff is to create the best place for them to work, and we are dedicated to:

  • Investing in the health and wellbeing of our staff, including a commitment to offering flexible working where possible.
  • Offering our staff a wide variety of training and development opportunities, to support their personal and career development objectives.
