As the Engineering Operations Manager, you will set a standard of excellence, showcasing accountability, decisive leadership, and fostering a positive company culture.

Your leadership will be crucial to the effectiveness of the Maintenance Division, ensuring adherence to continuous improvement and regulatory standards. You will oversee and mentor the Maintenance Engineers and Coordinators under your direct supervision.

Moreover, you will hold site management duties, serving as the chairperson for the operational management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and nurture the maintenance and engineering teams, aligning efforts with strategic and business objectives to cultivate a culture of ongoing enhancement.
  • Lead the operational management team at the Craigavon site and coordinate with the European Supply Chain team.
  • Oversee the development of the sample tufting process to guarantee high-quality and timely customer deliveries.
  • Promote the adoption of advanced technologies through quality engineering and innovation to enhance plant and equipment efficiency.
  • Ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, continuously improving efficiency, productivity, and safety.
  • Regularly assess engineering practices, procedures, and systems using Maintenance software to manage stock levels and material usage, guiding maintenance budgets effectively.
  • Collaborate with Operations to enhance machinery and products, maximizing technological advancements.
  • Manage all CEA projects, including investigation, specification setting, obtaining quotes, installation, and commissioning to improve operational capabilities.
  • Work with contractors and suppliers to optimize engineering inventory expenses.
  • Maintain control over machine settings and MCH files, including yarn usage for all approved products across qualified machines.
  • Review MCH files for yarn usage on all global products at sign-off and make necessary corrections.
  • Implement and oversee Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental Standards to ensure compliance with legislation and internal protocols, including ISO 9001 & 14001.
  • Develop and execute initiatives focused on sustainability and waste reduction, aligning with our Climate Take Back mission.
  • Provide technical support and collaborate with New Product Design & Development to ensure practical applications for design requirements.
  • Assist manufacturing management by effectively diagnosing and resolving operational challenges with manufacturing equipment, minimizing downtime.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering (BSc) or equivalent.
  • Leadership capabilities that align with a coaching-oriented culture.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading teams, typically within an operational context.
  • Adaptable approach with a strong sense of ownership over decisions.
  • Proven track record in leading successful engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering schematics.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and extensive mechanical knowledge.
  • Background in high-volume manufacturing settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.

Desirable:

  • Experience with PLC programming, particularly Siemens S7 and others.
  • Project management expertise.
  • Understanding of control systems and design principles.
  • IOSH or equivalent certification in safety management.
  • Experience in budget oversight.
