Engineering Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Howden Joinery is seeking an experienced Engineering Maintenance Supervisor to lead our manufacturing site in Howden, East Yorkshire. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing improvement projects and initiatives to drive gains in manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the Reliability Technician team, ensuring tasks align with production plans, schedules, and engineering needs.
  2. Implement the maintenance excellence strategy, focusing on driving improvements in equipment Reliability and Availability, and leading FMECA activities.
  3. Collaborate with the Planning team to achieve Maintenance Excellence objectives.
  4. Support the implementation of group standards and contribute to their development.
  5. Provide effective support for Maintenance Managers and act as a deputy when necessary.
  6. Identify Improvement tools and techniques to support Maintenance Excellence.
  7. Offer coaching and support to implement effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques.
Requirements:
  1. Time served Electrical Engineer or Automation/Controls Apprenticeship or a minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Proven technical background in a high-speed manufacturing industry.
  3. Experience in Maintenance Excellence tools and techniques, such as FMECA.
  4. Ability to respond to changing priorities, displaying planning and organisation skills.
  5. Committed to root cause analysis and proactive continuous improvement initiatives.
  6. Able to foster teamwork to maximise the effectiveness of the relationship between Engineering and Operations, bringing about performance improvements across the site.
  7. IT skills, including interfacing with PC-controlled machinery and working with preventative maintenance and SAP-based store systems.
