The Quantum Processor Engineering (QPE) Team

Our QPE team is responsible for designing, simulating, fabricating, packaging, and testing our Quantum Processing Units. We are seeking a talented Photonics Development Engineer to join this dynamic team.

Your Role: Shaping the Future of Quantum Computing

As a Photonics Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our integrated photonics designs and components meet the highest performance standards. You will be responsible for defining, setting up, verifying, and conducting extensive testing procedures for photonics within our QPUs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Photonics Test Capability: Design, build, improve, automate, and maintain integrated photonics test setups to deliver the required photonics test capability.
  • Photonics Fabrication Process Performance: Monitor and maintain the performance of photonics fabrication processes, inform simulation (e.g., fill fraction variations batch to batch, over wafer, etc.), and manage data by collating and reporting measurement results.
  • Performance Testing: Test the performance of integrated photonics devices against specifications.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze and visualize measurement data to ensure accurate reporting and informed decision-making.

Collaboration: You will collaborate closely with Integrated Photonics Designers to achieve and maintain photonic component specifications, conduct failure analysis, and implement necessary mitigations for optimal performance.

Qualifications:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a Master's or PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Hands-on experience with optical setups and a basic understanding of wave optics are essential. Proficiency in coding for measurement automation and data analysis is highly desirable, as is experience in integrated photonics characterization.
