Laboratory Shift Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Shift Supervisor to join our team at SGS. As a Laboratory Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the laboratory's daily operations during your assigned shift, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and Coordinate Laboratory Personnel: Oversee the daily activities of laboratory personnel, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure Compliance with Safety Protocols and Regulatory Requirements: Ensure that all laboratory activities are conducted in compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements, minimizing the risk of accidents and ensuring a safe working environment.
- Oversee Sample Preparation and Analysis: Oversee the preparation and analysis of oil and gas samples, ensuring that all results are accurate and reliable.
- Monitor Equipment Performance and Maintenance: Monitor the performance of laboratory equipment and coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
- Conduct Quality Control Checks: Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure that all results are accurate and reliable.
- Provide Training and Guidance: Provide training and guidance to laboratory staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that all staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
- Troubleshoot and Resolve Issues: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the shift, ensuring that all laboratory activities are conducted smoothly and efficiently.
- Experience in a Service Industry Related to the Petro-Chemical Industry: You will need experience in a service industry related to the petro-chemical industry, with a strong understanding of laboratory practices and procedures.
- Experience in an Analytical Laboratory: You will need experience in an analytical laboratory, with a strong understanding of laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Good Communication Skills: You will need good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with laboratory staff and management.
- Flexible Approach to Work: You will need to be able to adopt a flexible approach to work, reacting effectively to a rapidly changing environment.
- Working Knowledge of Effective People Management Techniques: You will need a working knowledge of effective people management techniques, to effectively manage laboratory staff and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
- Full UK Driving License: You will need a full UK driving license, to travel to and from the laboratory as needed.
