Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and qualified SEN teaching assistant to join our team at a mainstream primary school in London. As a SEN teaching assistant, you will be responsible for supporting children with a variety of needs, working closely with the SENCO, other LSAs, and outside agencies/therapists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school setting
  • Working closely with the SENCO, other LSAs, and outside agencies/therapists to develop and implement individualized support plans
  • Providing one-to-one support to children with complex needs
  • Assisting with the delivery of intervention groups and supporting pupils' social, emotional, and mental health
  • Collaborating with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective support system

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a SEN teaching assistant in a mainstream primary school setting
  • Qualifications in special educational needs or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with children, teachers, and other support staff
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECs, and Team Teach training and experience desirable
