Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Respiratory Nurse Specialist to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will provide a specialist respiratory nursing service to patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, both within the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist respiratory nursing care to patients with respiratory conditions, including COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, NIV, and pleural diseases.
  • Work autonomously to review patients, make recommendations, and decisions while offering support and guidance to patients, relatives, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Act as a resource to other healthcare professionals requiring specialist advice and provide support and assistance to the respiratory team and other teams as required.
  • Participate in the education of staff, carry out audits, QI projects, and help with clinical trials.
Requirements
  • RGN qualification - Diploma or Degree
  • Relevant respiratory course or respiratory experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Patient assessment and clinical examination or equivalent course
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Immediate Life Support
  • Non-medical prescribing course
