Hours of Work: Minimum 3 days a week, flexible location for the remainder of the week

Salary: £71,163 to £80,060 per annum

About the Role:

This is a challenging and exciting role within the TRU programme planning team, supporting the delivery of a major element of the wider benefit realisation. The successful candidate will aid in the functional development of the planning and wider programme management team, providing guidance in successful schedule delivery, through positive engagement, producing a stronger planning community for the future.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Co-ordinate all planning and scheduling information from project teams, in addition to maintenance contractors and regional investment teams.
  2. Develop and implement the planning process in conformance to the Network Rail and TRU standards.
  3. Develop and maintain Level 1 Master Schedule review and Level 2 Summary Schedule that incorporate all the work planned for the Project (maintenance and renewals), with appropriate milestones to track the overall programme.
  4. Develop and maintain a planning database that will allow strategic planning information to be stored and managed.
  5. Co-ordinate all works and access requirements with the Route Access Manager's team and support them throughout the annual ROR process and possession planning process.
  6. Identify inter-dependencies between delivery groups and give early warning of potential conflicts.
  7. Facilitate strategic priorities are being observed by individual delivery groups, including all project and maintenance activities.
  8. Assist Project Directors with strategic level planning decisions.
  9. Provide support to Project Controls reporting staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience of Major Rail projects is essential.
  • Minimum 5 years experience of Project/Programme planning and associated software planning tools.
  • Minimum 10 years experience of major engineering projects – ideally in Rail.
  • Ability to use basic and advanced IT systems – including Primavera P6.
  • Must have proven experience of working with technical engineering staff and be able to communicate well at all levels of the organisation.
  • Must have proven experience of working with a team and be able to demonstrate a shared success due to a combined team effort.
  • Graduate level with some degree of strategic thinking.
  • Self-motivated and able to make decisions.

Desirable Skills:

  • Must be able to demonstrate some degree of staff motivation and leadership.
  • Familiarity with railway operations and engineering and the West Coast Main Line.
  • Must be prepared to travel and stay away from home when required.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Extensive knowledge in creating and updating Schedule Strategies and processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of schedule assurance processes on Project and programmes.
  • Familiarity with NEC contract suite or Network Rail suite of contracts.
  • Good Visio skills and visualising schedules.
