G&H is a leading provider of optical systems and components for the aerospace, defense, and life sciences industries. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join our team at our Optical Systems Innovation Hub in St Asaph, North Wales.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a talented Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to design and develop new imaging and sighting systems for our customers. The successful candidate will work closely with our product management and business development teams to support new commercial opportunities and will be responsible for producing designs of mechanical assemblies, opto-mechanical sub-assemblies, and mechanisms for electro-optical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems for new imaging and sighting systems
- Work with colleagues across the business to support new commercial opportunities
- Produce designs of mechanical assemblies, opto-mechanical sub-assemblies, and mechanisms for electro-optical systems
- Interfacing with and managing sub-contractors and suppliers
- Prepare presentations and reports for design reviews
- Support handover of product data packs from design through to production
- Work with Business Development and Engineering teams to support new opportunities
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- At least 5 years' experience in mechanical design within a precision industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of 3D CAD, component design, assembly creation, and production of drawings in accordance with BS
- Experience of design of precision machines and mechanisms
- Understanding of common engineering materials and finishing techniques
- Knowledge of finite element techniques to predict and simulate performance of proposed designs
- Knowledge of Solidworks and PDM
- Some experience of opto-mechanical design would be an advantage
