About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at Directions Recruitment Specialists. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our nominal ledgers and producing monthly consolidated management accounts and other financial information to strict deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise junior staff members and provide guidance and support to ensure they meet their performance targets.
- Produce accurate and timely consolidated management accounts to agreed deadlines, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Assist the Finance Manager with investigations of budget variances and provide advice to budget holders on routine accounting matters.
- Complete debtors analysis and reconciliation between the Student Information System and financial system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial information.
- Complete balance sheet control accounts reconciliations including bank reconciliation, accruals, and prepayments, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Maintain the nominal ledger coding structure and ensure that all transactions are correctly coded, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Prepare and post income recognition journals as part of the month-end and year-end process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Follow month-end procedure, post month-end journals, update schedules, including energy, rates, and refectory, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Liaise with bankers for all routine banking matters, ensuring timely and accurate financial transactions.
- Provide administrative support on the bank portal, virtual cards, and credit cards applications, ensuring efficient and effective financial management.
- Advise budget holders on routine accounting matters, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Complete subsidiary companies' VAT returns and other financial reports, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Assist the Finance Director and Finance Manager with the production of the consolidated year-end accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Assist the Finance Director and Finance Manager with cash flow forecasting and monitoring, ensuring accurate and timely financial information.
- Reconcile and process incentive payments to employers, ensuring accurate and timely financial transactions.
- Prepare subcontractors payments and other financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors as and when required, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
- Perform any other duties as may be reasonably required, ensuring the smooth operation of the finance department.
Requirements:
- Qualified to degree level in a relevant field, such as accounting or finance.
- CCAB part-qualified or finalist with 3 years' experience of management accounts in a corporate environment.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and communication skills, with excellent IT skills and experience of coordinating and monitoring project work.
