The Role
We are seeking an Investment Associate to join our Pre-Seed team, to support our growing existing portfolio companies and source new investments. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing new investment opportunities, researching and helping with diligence, and investing in and assisting the next cohort of world-changing technology companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively research new investment trends and connect with interesting new start-ups through your network.
- Build your network for deal flow sourcing from multiple channels.
- Sourcing and filtering deal flow that we believe has a high chance of delivering strong returns for our investors and us.
- Conduct detailed company due diligence, including undertaking competitor and market research, founder and company referencing, competitor analysis, etc.
- Support deal negotiation and investment execution.
- Invest in a minimum of 12 deals per year from the Pre-Seed Fund.
- Coordinate and write various pieces, including investor reporting, portfolio management, portfolio updates, and investment memos.
- Provide ongoing portfolio support and management, including involvement in follow-on funding strategies, while serving as the liaison and business ambassador within Fuel Ventures to encourage and secure internal buy-in for follow-on investments in top-performing companies.
Requirements
- Strong interest in developing a career within venture capital and the technology space.
- Organised, diligent, and hardworking, with an ability to exhibit a high level of attention to detail.
- Team player, capable of planning and managing time effectively in an environment with a high workflow and tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills – both quantitative and qualitative – with an understanding of early-stage venture capital.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce engaging high-quality written content.
- Ability to quickly build rapport, deliver outstanding client service, and foster long-standing relationships.
- Self-starter and resilient attitude, capable of working in a fast-paced and open environment with limited direction.
- Creative thinker who can create processes to help streamline our investment activities.
Hybrid Role
This will be a hybrid role, with the expectation to attend the office 2-3 times a week, including every Thursday.
