Job Description

Job Summary

GE Vernova's Power Conversion business is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mechatronics Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing rotating machine systems for the marine sector.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop rotating machine systems that meet the highest quality standards, ensuring compliance with business procedures, standards, and regulations.
  2. Integrate large electro-mechanical systems to meet environmental and transversal requirements.
  3. Plan and execute relevant engineering activities to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within budget, and meet quality targets.
  4. Participate in phase reviews, design reviews, ILS reviews, FMEA, and determine attendees, objectives, and next steps.
  5. Liaise with suppliers to produce quotations and support their site activities.
  6. Ensure issued documents have been reviewed and are of the required quality, adhering to specifications and standards.

Requirements

  1. A relevant degree in Electromechanical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualifications.
  2. Proven track record of designing mechanical systems in a professional engineering environment.
  3. Ability to perform basic structural design and calculations, structural design specifications, and mechanical Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  4. Solid understanding of rotor dynamics, including torsional and lateral vibration, shaft lines, bearings, mechanical coupling, shock absorption.
  5. Excellent knowledge of thermal and fluid dynamics.
  6. Experience in testing, verifying, and validating rotating equipment.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Ability to collaborate and work as part of a wider engineering team.
  9. Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CREO, or similar.
  10. Basic understanding of electrical and power generation principles.
  11. Sole British citizenship with a valid British Passport (UK Eyes only).
  12. Possession of or being capable of obtaining SC level security clearance.
