Simpson Judge Ltd is a prestigious legal firm with a national presence, seeking a qualified Solicitor with a specialization in Risk Management. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to travel and manage responsibilities across various locations.

The position involves working internally within the firm to oversee Quality and Risk, providing comprehensive legal support across multiple departments. Key responsibilities include addressing client grievances, managing professional indemnity issues, ensuring compliance with data protection laws, and preventing money laundering activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Complaints: Handle client grievances in line with the firm's established Complaint Procedure, which includes:
    • Communicating with the complainant and relevant internal personnel
    • Investigating the issue and formulating an appropriate response
    • Maintaining accurate records of complaints
    • Occasionally liaising with external regulatory bodies if complaints escalate
  • Professional Negligence: Manage notifications regarding potential or actual professional negligence cases, which involves:
    • Investigating reported incidents to ascertain the facts
    • Providing guidance on necessary actions to address the issues
    • Advising on conflict of interest and pre-action protocols
    • Keeping the firm's professional indemnity documentation up to date
  • Data Protection Compliance: Offer advice on adherence to Data Protection regulations, including:
    • Conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments
    • Guiding the firm's GDPR team on compliance matters
  • Anti-Money Laundering: Serve as one of the firm's Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officers, which includes:
    • Reviewing and assessing internal suspicious activity reports (SARs)
    • Preparing for external audits, including those conducted by regulatory authorities
    • Responding to inquiries related to AML systems from third parties

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor authorized to practice in England and Wales
  • Experience in advising on SRA conflict of interest matters
  • Experience as MLRO or COLP (or both)
  • In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong relationship-building skills at all organizational levels
