The Lead Test Centre Engineer plays a pivotal role within the Test Centre team, reporting directly to the Test Centre Manager. This position is integral to the GL Test Centre group, providing essential engineering and testing support along with technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Test Centre Manager: Assist in the daily operations and management of the Test Centre.
- Deputy Role: Step in as the acting Test Centre Manager when necessary.
- Supervision: Oversee sub-groups and individual team members within the Test Centre.
- Equipment Operation: Utilize Measuring and Data Logging Equipment effectively.
- Project Management: Lead projects involving rig construction, modifications, commissioning, and development tailored to testing needs.
- Documentation Control: Manage the creation, oversight, and distribution of essential documentation.
- Data Management: Cultivate advanced proficiency in Test Centre Databases to deliver data and presentations as needed.
- Standards Promotion: Advocate for excellence and continuous improvement within the Test Centre.
- Project Responsibility: Assume full accountability for Test and Rig projects.
- Health and Safety Initiatives: Actively support ongoing health and safety initiatives at the site and corporate levels.
- Budget Management: Engage in the oversight and control of project budgets.
This role typically involves standard office hours, with the possibility of extended hours for special projects. Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills are crucial for success in a multidisciplinary environment. A positive, collaborative attitude towards team members and Test Centre clients is essential. The ideal candidate will maintain an organized workspace and adapt to the fast-paced nature of a dynamic Technology Centre.
QualificationsA degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, coupled with relevant experience, is required. Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office and CAD, is essential. Experience with testing equipment and instrumentation is highly valued. Additionally, a formal qualification in Health and Safety or demonstrable capability in this area would be advantageous.
