Job Title: Chief Governance Officer

The Chief Governance Officer will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our organization by leading the income generation directorate in realizing our ambitious goals to support our services. This position is responsible for driving new business development, developing current and new social enterprises, income diversification, and generating income from commercial partnerships.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and direction in relation to organizational strategy and income generation, reporting to the Chief Executive and the Board of Trustees.
  • Participate in the Trading Board and be accountable for all activities and financial performance.
  • Contribute to the vision and strategic direction and sustainability of NI Hospice.
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of corporate governance and risk management, ensuring all statutory requirements are met and risks are escalated appropriately.
  • Be accountable for their respective directorate's performance and implementation of the strategic plan, performance metrics, and review mechanisms.
  • Promote a supportive culture of high performance, results-driven, and targets-focused.
  • Develop and deliver an ambitious income growth plan which aligns with the strategic plan, providing clear direction for business development and income generation.
  • Provide leadership to all reporting staff and volunteers, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement so that the highest standards are maintained.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a highly effective, integrated, and successful fundraising strategy to maximize and grow income from a variety of sources.
  • Oversight, monitor, and deliver a retail strategy to maximize potential income and minimize costs, contributing to NI Hospice sustainability.
  • Lead, develop, and implement an ambitious commercial and social enterprise strategy to elevate existing services to a commercial platform and identify new viable business and social enterprise opportunities to maximize income generation.
  • Oversight the development, delivery, and review of an annual market strategy and plan for NI Hospice to augment market capability and organizational sustainability, identifying high-propensity opportunities and increasing return on investment for income-generating activity.
Candidate Profile:
  • A minimum 3rd Level Qualification (i.e., degree or equivalent or above) in a relevant discipline, e.g., Business, Accounting, Finance, or Enterprise Development.
  • A minimum 5 years of relevant and recent experience in a senior management position in a comparable-sized organization.
  • A minimum 5 years of relevant and recent experience in each of the following areas: Management and leadership experience at a senior management level in a complex business environment, overseeing multiple functions and high-performing teams with stretching targets.
  • Leading strategic and business planning and management with demonstrable evidence of using commercial acumen to include income forecasting, management, conversion, and reporting.
  • Working with high-net-worth individuals or high-value (blue chip) businesses.
  • Demonstrable evidence of growing and managing income growth, meeting ambitious targets, and penetrating new markets or sectors.
  • Significant experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders and delivering a focused and tailored service.
  • Demonstrable experience in successfully networking, engaging with new customers, influencing, and negotiating to achieve the necessary results.
  • Utilizing multimedia platforms and digital development to attain maximum reach and impact.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Competent in the use of CRM systems.
