About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Care Lawyer to join our team at Hertfordshire County Council. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate, comprehensive, and prompt legal advice on Adult Social Care Law, including advice to the Hertfordshire Deprivation of Liberty Supervisory Body, Approved Mental Health Professionals, and acting as an advocate before Tribunals and the Court.
  • Handle a varied and busy caseload, ensuring timely and effective resolution of complex legal issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing legislation and case law, and develop expertise in other areas, such as subsidy control.
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to provide strategic advice on procurements, subsidy control, and data protection.
  • Interpret different contractual documents and provide commercial advice on contracts, procurement, and future service delivery.
Requirements
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with extensive knowledge of Adult Social Care Law.
  • Ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to travel to other locations within Hertfordshire, either using own transport or a company car.
