About the Role:

The successful In-House Solicitor Advocate will be responsible for representation in all types of proceedings, including complex matters. Advocacy will be carried out in the Family Court in respect of the following types of hearings:

  • Contested Interim Care Order
  • Fact Finding
  • Issues Resolution
  • Final
  • Applications for an Emergency Protection Order
  • Applications for a Placement Order or Applications under Section 25 Children Act 1989
  • Adoption
  • Case Management

You will be an integral part of a professional legal team delivering legal advice and support to all aspects of the Council's services. You will be a positive and highly motivated person who is confident, versatile, and innovative.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be a confident advocate with previous experience of working in a local authority. The ability to communicate effectively, build and maintain positive working relationships with the Court and all stakeholders is essential.

Candidates with experience of working in a local authority are highly desirable due to the nature of the role. However, we are also interested in hearing from Childcare Lawyers from private practice, or Barristers, who have handled substantial public childcare matters in court.
