Job Title: Assistant Practitioner - MammographyAbout the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Practitioner to join our team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As an Assistant Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients, working closely with our experienced team of mammographers and radiologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography examinations to the highest standard, ensuring optimum diagnostic imaging quality and adhering to departmental protocols and procedures.
  • Participate in the updating of procedures and protocols to reflect changes in practice, ensuring that our services remain at the forefront of breast screening.
  • Actively participate in equipment quality control and safety checks, documenting all test parameters and reporting any equipment faults or test results outside acceptable limits.
  • Provide professional support, guidance, and leadership to less experienced members of staff, including trainee mammography practitioners, assistant practitioners, mammography assistants, and radiography students.
  • Ensure a high level of environmental quality is achieved by maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in all areas at all times, while complying with infection control policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, clients, and colleagues, ensuring that all interactions are professional, empathetic, and respectful.
  • Participate in service audit and presentation of associated findings to peer group, contributing to the continuous improvement of our services.
Requirements
  • Maths and English GCSE pass or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in the NHS, preferably in a breast screening unit.
  • Computer literate and proficient in data input and databases.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work within a team and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain concentration, with attention to detail and a flexible approach to work.
