The Role

The main duties include maintaining solar photovoltaic systems, addressing fault call-outs, and executing repairs. Additional responsibilities may involve installation and cleaning of panels.

  • Servicing and Maintenance of Solar PV systems – Conducting annual services and interim inspections according to scheduled iAuditor guidelines, including downloading logs from inverters and performing firmware updates within the stipulated timeframes.
  • Responding to fault call-outs and performing diagnostics, from resetting breakers to testing strings, replacing AC and DC isolators, and checking connection points.
  • Executing repairs on systems – Engaging in roof-based tasks with team members, reworking AC and DC cabling, and lifting and replacing inverters (with assistance when necessary).
  • Collaborating with installation teams to perform both mechanical and electrical tasks as needed. This includes installing electrical switchgear, DC cabling from roofs to inverters, installing MC4 connectors, and handling solar panels.
  • Assisting in the cleaning of solar panels using either robotic or pole cleaning methods, working alongside the primary operative.
  • Keeping the Field Service application updated in real-time regarding your responsibilities.
  • Communicating with clients on-site after a service to inform them of any necessary work and providing clear explanations.
Essential Skills & Experience

  • Background in Solar PV (Domestic, Commercial, or Agricultural)
  • Valid UK Driving License
* 18th Edition Regulations (or Equivalent)

  • Proficient in using applications on tablets, such as iAuditor and field service apps, to manage and report on tasks through defined templates.
  • Experienced with IPAF 3A and 3B (Training available if needed)
