We are seeking an experienced Employment Specialist to join our Individual Placement Support (IPS) team at The Growth Company. As an Employment Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting adults with physical or mental health disabilities to find and sustain employment.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of 24 clients motivated to start or return to work, providing person-centered advice and guidance to progress them towards employment.
- Deliver the IPS approach, overcoming work, skills, health, and personal circumstances barriers to support clients into sustainable work.
- Attend weekly team meetings as an embedded IPS practitioner and provide quality service through regular visits, effective monitoring, and in-work support to clients and employers.
- Develop effective working relationships with local employers, negotiating job opportunities that meet clients' strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences.
- Challenge inequalities experienced by clients and address existing discrimination, ensuring a process of learning for the organization.
- Partake in continuous learning about disability and mental health conditions, their impact, and how they can be managed, undertaking mandatory training as required.
- Meet and support clients to understand their key skills, aspirations, and goals, completing a Vocational Profile and producing an Action Plan to help them obtain and sustain competitive employment.
- Assess client support needs relating to work, providing support and guidance, and source job opportunities through tailored job searches and regular contact with local employers.
- Provide education and support to employers, negotiating adjustments, return to work strategies, and ongoing contact to ensure job retention.
- Establish positive and integrated relationships with Primary Care teams, employers, and other service providers, ensuring all relevant policies are implemented.
- Experience talking to employers and helping people into work.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with everyone from frontline to CEO level.
- Negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
- Drive, passion, and commitment.
- Proven ability to build rapport with people, especially those affected by substance misuse or similar conditions.
- Strong written and verbal skills, with organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiating skills.
- Ability to work in a target-driven environment, with a focus on successful job outcomes and sustained outcomes.
- High-level guidance skills, with the ability to deliver one-to-one and group sessions to at least Grade 2 standard.
- Previous experience working on outreach and lone working.
- Experience in guidance, advice, and counseling environments.
- An understanding of working with disabled people, or a similar client group within health, social services, or the voluntary sector is desirable.
