Thrive Oldham is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team in the Torfaen area. As a Machinist, you will play a crucial role in processing products through the Machine Shop, ensuring they meet customer expectations and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the team to achieve departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to Right First Time, On Time In Full, Productivity, etc.
- Operate manual vertical turning lathes and CNC vertical and horizontal turning lathes to process products in line with the method of manufacture, adhering to standard operating procedures.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure products are produced to customer specifications.
- Set up tooling and record key data and information on a daily basis, including production throughput data, non-conformance notes, and dimensional reports.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by performing daily Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and 5S activities.
Requirements:
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions
- High self-motivation and determination to succeed
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
- Computer literacy
- Good interpersonal skills, particularly team working
- Excellent time management
- Excellent attention to detail along with good verbal and written communication
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working in heavy manufacturing
- Manual Machining experience (both manual and CNC)
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (2D) and detailed written instructions
- Familiarity with machining special alloy materials
- Experience in programming
- Experience with Fannuc control system
