Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Derby. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical products for highly regulated industries.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop mechanical products using 3D CAD software
- Prepare fully detailed design submissions and create GA, site layout, and P&ID drawings using AutoCAD
- Prepare manufacturing/fabrication drawings and BOM lists
- Model piping systems for optimal performance
- Prepare and submit Network Rail Forms 1, 2 & 3
- Prepare O&M manuals and Installation manuals
- Write technical content for O&M manuals
- Obtain quotations from external supply chain
- Define Technical Workscopes for Client/Internal Projects
- Specify technical Workscopes for suppliers
- Prepare inspection and test plans, as well as testing and commissioning plans
- Assist with initial tender design submissions
- Assist and prepare tender submissions, visiting customer sites and offices
- Respond to technical queries throughout tender and contract deliverables
- Carry out site surveys
- Visit customer sites during testing & commissioning for verification sign-off
- Visit suppliers for equipment sign-off
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering
- Engineering qualification (BEng, MEng, HND, HNC, BSc etc.) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar
- Excellent 3D CAD skills
- Experience working in highly regulated industries such as Rail, Defence, Nuclear, Aerospace, Medical etc.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- 3D Modelling preferred but not essential
- Ability to work well individually as well as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Keen to develop with a company long term
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Collaborative and innovative work environment
