Job Title: Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Specialist to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in paediatric palliative care and will be responsible for designing and implementing an educational pathway and programme that meets the needs of healthcare professionals caring for children, young people and their families affected by life-limiting and/or life-threatening conditions across the West Yorkshire health and care system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement an educational pathway and programme that meets the needs of healthcare professionals caring for children, young people and their families affected by life-limiting and/or life-threatening conditions.
  • Provide advanced nursing expertise to a specific patient group and contribute to the development of the speciality service.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of nursing within the Trust and ensure cost effective use of resources.
  • Organise and develop the service, including producing business plans to support restructure of the service as required.
  • Set out an education structure for the team and ensure compliance with the Trust's risk and governance agenda.
  • Offer specialist supervision, teaching and consultation to practitioners both within and outside the Organisation.

    • Ability to organise own and others workload
    • Willing to undergo training as necessary
    • Evidence of continued professional development

Qualifications:
  • Essential:
    • Registered Nurse (Level 1)
    • Recognised teaching/assessing qualification
    • Post registration qualification (or equivalent) in specialty
    • Post registration at Masters level in specialist field or relevant experience

    • First level degree education
    • Master level degree education
    • Non Medical prescribing
Experience:
  • Essential:
    • Extensive experience at band 6 level or equivalent in specialty
