We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Assistant to join our team at Savills Management Resources. As an Environmental Services Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our external areas.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure that all external areas are cleaned to the required standards and that all machinery is well maintained.
- Follow all departmental procedures and schedules correctly at all times.
- Ensure that all waste is dealt with appropriately.
- Comply with all health and safety procedures for the department, including COSHH, PPE, clinical waste, and sharps policy.
- Liaise with team leaders and colleagues to ensure a smooth running of the department.
- Remove graffiti immediately.
- Transport waste from collection points, separate, and compact appropriately while adhering to the centre's recycling policy.
- Sweep car parks, paths, main entrances, and external walkways.
- Litter pick landscaped and surrounding areas.
- Move furniture, equipment, and displays for events, functions, and meetings.
- Ensure that all check sheets for machinery are used correctly.
- Operate machinery safely, using the operator's guide, and wear protective clothing and footwear at all times.
- Actively promote the centre's recycling policy with retailers.
- Take the initiative in assisting customers.
- Ensure a good knowledge of all facilities and processes to deal with customer queries, complaints, and compliments in line with company procedure.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, other teams, and team leaders.
- Contribute to team effort and success.
- Attend regular team briefings and meetings.
- Take care of own and others' health and safety.
- Maintain safe working practices in line with HASAWA.
- Be aware of health and safety responsibilities.
- Identify hazards and take steps to correct them.
- Maintain a smart and well-groomed appearance, meeting our uniform standards.
- Undertake any further duties as requested by the supervisory or management team.
- Increase knowledge and skills through education and training.
- Attend in-house and external training relevant to the role.
- Collect refuse from waste bins.
- Remove food and liquid spillages.
- Clean toilets.
- Be aware of site-specific duties.
- Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning and maintaining external areas.
- Ability to walk, bend, push, pull, and lift repetitively during working hours.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexible and supportive team player.
- Able to demonstrate a good level of customer service.
- Working knowledge of cleaning equipment and machines.
- Experience in providing cleaning services in a busy environment visited by members of the public.
- Willingness to partake in further on-site training.
- Able to work in both internal and external environments.
- Confident and friendly disposition.
- Self-motivated with the ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision.
- Ability to work on own initiative and deal with demanding situations.
- Honest and reliable work ethic.
- Well-presented.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- 1 to 3 years' proven experience working within grounds maintenance.
- Knowledge of external maintenance and cleaning regimes.
- Basic knowledge of H&S legislation.
- Cleaning and/or landscaping-related qualifications, such as BICS.
- IOSH.
- Knowledge of COSHH policies and procedures.
- First Aid.
- Body fluids trained.
- Demonstrable IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
