About the Role

The Nuclear Industry Association is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join their team. As a critical role at the NIA, the Policy Analyst will be responsible for supporting the organisation's policy programme and advocating for nuclear power as an essential part of the country's energy mix.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor developments in energy policy and the civil nuclear industry
  • Analyse data on UK grid mix, national and regional carbon intensity, balancing costs, electricity prices, nuclear emissions savings, and other topics to provide evidence to strengthen the case for nuclear
  • Draft responses to government consultations and select committee inquiries, including collating input from members on a wide range of issues
  • Draft briefings on topical policy areas for the industry
  • Support the Senior Policy Analyst and Head of Policy in developing NIA policy asks of Government
  • Develop relationships with policy experts across the wider energy industry to stay up to date on issues affecting wider energy sector and highlight nuclear issues
  • Engage in regular one-to-one meetings with member companies to exchange updates
  • Support NIA-led working groups
  • Represent the NIA at industry working groups and external events
Requirements
  • Interest in energy policy
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with an ability to tailor material to a wide range of audiences
  • Ability to operate proactively to support given priorities and objectives, rather than relying on day-to-day instructions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to establish strong working relationships within Westminster and the nuclear industry
