Financial Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team at The Childrens Trust. As a key member of our Finance Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our financial reporting systems, treasury management, and accounts payable and fundraising finance income processing.
Main Responsibilities- Oversee the general ledger and ensure its accuracy and integrity
- Manage internal controls, including prompt reconciliations of control accounts, separation of duties, and compliance with prescribed systems of authorisation
- Assist in the preparation of annual accounts, in compliance with the SORP and relevant GAAP, and liaise with external and internal auditors
- Lead in the preparation of the annual cash flow forecast and monthly reconciliations between forecast and actual
- Manage the purchase ledger function, ensuring the ledger is kept clean and at an acceptable level
- Assist with credit control, in liaison with relevant service leads, and manage the Fundraising Accountant role, ensuring accuracy of reconciliations between Fundraising and Finance
- Manage the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring its accuracy, and submit quarterly VAT returns and VAT reconciliations

Requirements- Qualified by experience (desirable)
- Competence with Excel Spreadsheets
- Competent writing and reporting skills
- Knowledge of full reporting functionality of a general ledger reporting system: drill down, report writing, modelling, pivot tables
- Pro-active problem solver who is willing to get stuck in and improve processes
- Strong personal presentation skills
- Highly organised and an excellent planner
- Ability to communicate well across the business and with finance team members
- Confident in coaching team members
