About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our team at Saxmundham Health Surgery. As a key member of our Medicines Management Team, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing high-quality, evidence-based medicines management strategies to improve patient outcomes and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medicines Management: Work alongside our Medicines Management Team to develop, promote, and implement high-quality, evidence-based medicines management strategies to maximise the benefits of medicines to patients and minimise risks.
  • Prescribing and Pharmaceutical Activities: Develop, support, and implement agreed prescribing and pharmaceutical activities or programmes to improve patient care and safety.
  • Patient-Facing Clinical Medication Review: Undertake clinical medication reviews with patients and work within your scope of practice to implement any necessary changes. Reviews may be cohort-based, in care homes, polypharmacy, or within your competence.
  • Medicines Quality Improvement: Undertake clinical audits of prescribing in areas identified by yourself or as directed by the GPs, feedback the results, and implement changes in conjunction with the relevant practice team.
  • Medicines Safety: Implement changes to medicines resulting from MHRA alerts, product withdrawal, and other local and national guidance.
  • Leadership and Management: Contribute to the leadership of medicines-related issues, provide leadership and mentoring to clinical pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and dispensary staff, and support further integration of general practice with wider healthcare systems.
Requirements
  • Essential Qualifications: GPhC Registered Pharmacist, Completion of General Pharmacists Training Pathway
  • Desirable Qualifications: GPhC Independent Prescriber Qualification, Minor Ailments certification, Medicines Management Qualification, MUR and repeat dispensing certification
  • Experience: Minimum of two years working as a pharmacist, experience in managing pharmacy services in primary care
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, strong IT skills, clear and polite telephone manner, competent in the use of Office and Outlook, SystmOne skills, ability to promote best practice regarding all pharmaceutical matters, effective time management, ability to work as a team member and autonomously, good interpersonal skills, problem-solving and analytical skills, ability to follow policy and procedure
