About the Role

The Data Protection Manager plays a pivotal role in safeguarding esure's privacy and data protection framework. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the implementation of our data protection policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with UK GDPR and other regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement data protection policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK GDPR and other regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate data protection risks.
  • Assist in responding to data breaches, including investigation, remediation, and reporting.
  • Provide training and awareness sessions on data protection and privacy best practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to ensure cohesive data protection practices.
  • Act as deputy for the Group DPO when required.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Law, or related field; advanced degree or GDPR & IAPP CIPP/E and/or CIPM certifications preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience in privacy and data protection, ideally in financial services; strong knowledge of Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR, PECR, and ICO guidance.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
  • Pragmatic commercial judgment in assessing risks and business responses.
  • Effective understanding of IT concepts relevant to privacy; high IT competence.
