Essex County Council (ECC) is dedicated to ensuring that children and young individuals at risk of missing educational opportunities receive the necessary support to access appropriate alternative, high-quality educational provisions.
We are looking for a versatile individual to collaborate with educational providers, families, and other essential stakeholders to enhance educational access for children who are enrolled in alternative education programs commissioned by the Local Authority.
This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who is comfortable operating within the educational sector and can engage with various partners to assist children who are currently reluctant or unable to attend traditional schooling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee collaboration with educational providers, families, and settings, focusing on monitoring and evaluating the attendance and engagement of children in alternative education.
- Work alongside the broader team to assist in the commissioning and oversight of all students receiving alternative education.
- Collaborate with the wider team to assess alternative education funding to ensure its effectiveness and value.
- The role necessitates mobility across an operational area; therefore, access to a vehicle is required.
- Annual performance management framework will define specific individual and shared targets and objectives.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Educated to RQF Level 3 (A Level) or possess equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and expertise in relevant fields.
- Experience in the educational sector, particularly regarding school exclusions and alternative provisions.
- Proven ability to make informed decisions and utilize initiative to achieve positive outcomes for young individuals.
- Experience in organizing and prioritizing workloads independently.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to engage with families and young individuals facing complex and challenging situations.
- Capability to interact with multiple educational providers, including schools.
- Strong understanding of DfE guidelines concerning exclusions, attendance, and alternative provisions.
Mobility Requirement: The role requires mobility throughout an operational area. Therefore, the postholder must possess a valid driving license and have access to a vehicle or demonstrate the ability to meet the mobility requirements through alternative means.
