Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated neonatal intensive care charge nurse to become a vital part of our compassionate and collaborative team at Barts Health NHS Trust.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for professional growth, allowing you to enhance your expertise and expand your knowledge as a tertiary level neonatal nurse. You will be responsible for caring for a diverse range of critically ill neonates, from those born extremely premature to those at term gestation, and will be involved in both surgical and medical interventions to safeguard these vulnerable lives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the neonatal team and hold accountability for assessing care requirements, developing, implementing, and evaluating care programs, and establishing care standards. This includes delivering educational and training initiatives that encompass mandatory training as well as clinical and advanced skills within the field of Neonatology.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse, Children's Nurse, or Midwife
  • Experience in mentorship and assessment within the clinical environment or equivalent
  • Completion of a Neonatal course (all modules)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Certification in Neonatal Life Support

Experience

Essential Experience

  • Experience in a neonatal setting at the staff nurse level in intensive care or local neonatal unit.
  • Demonstrated professional competence
  • Evidence of ongoing education in relevant areas of practice.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in effective budget management and resource utilization

Knowledge

Essential Knowledge

  • Familiarity with NMC guidelines regarding medications, documentation, conduct, and professionalism
  • Awareness of current issues and reforms within the NHS and neonatal services.
  • Understanding of the Toolkit for high-quality neonatal services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding issues.
