Job Overview

As a Lead Social Worker, you will operate within the established legal and contemporary policy frameworks, including the National Frameworks for the support and safeguarding of vulnerable children.

Your role will encompass effective management and oversight of staff, ensuring high standards of professional practice.

You will be tasked with identifying, assessing, and managing care and protection risks for under-supported children and adults, employing a trauma-informed methodology.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate with individuals, children, young people, and their families to enhance their well-being and address care and protection requirements.

- Advocate for the welfare of individuals, children, and families by overseeing assessments of needs and risks, and coordinating with various agencies and organizations.

- In partnership with the Team Manager and other stakeholders, contribute to the development, monitoring, and evaluation of services, ensuring effective collaboration with local agencies.

- Uphold health and safety standards in all aspects of service delivery.

Candidate Profile

- Extensive experience in Children and Families and statutory social work.

- Proven track record of working with children and young people requiring protective plans.

- Deep understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people who are, or have been, Looked After and Accommodated in various care settings.

- Comprehensive knowledge of the issues impacting children, young people, and their families in Scotland.

- Familiarity with relevant legislation and key government guidance applicable to the role.

- Strong understanding of The Scottish Government's Independent Care Review; The Promise.

- Possession of a C.Q.S.W./Dip. or BA or equivalent in Social Work.

- SSSC Registered.

- Demonstrated experience and understanding of the diverse needs of displaced individuals, children, and families.

- Ability to engage effectively with service users in direct service delivery.

- Competence in managing competing demands and implementing an effective workload management system.

- Commitment to the principles of The Promise and Health and Social Care standards.

- Capacity to navigate change and work innovatively.

- A broad professional perspective that contributes to transformative change.

- Proficient in fostering productive and positive working relationships.

- Adherence to a practice approach characterized by honesty, transparency, and integrity.

- Flexibility to work outside standard office hours and in various office environments as required.
