The Parks and Open Spaces Service is a critical component of Wyre Forest District Council's operations, responsible for maintaining parks, open spaces, cemeteries, highways, and semi-natural open spaces with various sports and play facilities. The service also provides grounds maintenance services to Traded Services, including schools and sports facilities.
The primary objective of this role is to ensure the maintenance of parks and open spaces to a high standard, meeting the needs of the district's residents and visitors. This involves supervising the day-to-day grounds maintenance operation, including all parks, gardens, sports fields, cemeteries, and private business grounds.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and lead a team of staff daily, including weekends, to ensure the efficient completion of tasks and maintenance schedules.
- Identify workloads within pre-planned schedules and allocate tasks to individuals, ensuring work standards are maintained.
- Line manage staff, including productivity, timekeeping, and performance.
- Deal with public enquiries and site issues passed on by the parks management team.
- Develop improvement work proposals for key parks locations and assist with flower bedding designs and parks and open spaces improvement schemes.
- Work with greening and biodiversity strategies to enhance the district's parks and open spaces.
- This role requires a substantial amount of physical effort and mobility on a frequent basis.
- A flexible approach to working hours is required, with the ability to work outside normal office hours if necessary, including evening meetings.
- Agreed working arrangements for Bank Holiday and Christmas apply.
