Qualifications Required

Essential Criteria

  • MRCP certification
  • Completion of Specialist Training Certification
  • Accreditation in both general internal medicine and gastroenterology

Desirable Criteria

  • Possession of a Higher Degree

Registration Requirements

  • Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the GMC
  • Specialist registration with the GMC or eligibility within 6 months of CCT

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Criteria

  • Proficient in IT and computer literacy
  • Experience in managing acute gastroenterology and general level II hepatology
  • Expertise in clinical gastroenterology and endoscopic procedures

Desirable Criteria

  • Recent NHS experience within the last three years
  • Interest in developing outpatient management strategies for liver disease
  • General ERCP skills and experience in service redesign

Teaching Responsibilities

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in teaching and training medical students, residents, and junior medical staff

Management and Audit Competencies

  • Competency in conducting medical audits
  • Understanding of the Health Service agenda and corporate governance for the next decade

Desirable Criteria

  • Evidence of management training
  • Knowledge of techniques to enhance clinic efficiency and productivity

Research and Publications

  • Strong publication record in gastroenterology, hepatology, or related fields

Desirable Criteria

  • Active involvement in research with a track record of securing grants or publishing peer-reviewed articles, chapters, and papers
  • Evidence of successful presentations

Language Proficiency

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken, to meet job requirements
