Job Title: Instrument Technician

Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to join their multi-skilled team based in Wytch Farm, Wareham.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing plant availability in the processing of oil received from various well sites. This will involve completing scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities on safety systems, fire and gas systems, flow measurement systems, pressure, temperature and level control, gas detection, DCS systems, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems, and developing and reviewing operational and maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maximizing plant availability in the processing of oil received from various well sites
  • Completing scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities on safety systems, fire and gas systems, flow measurement systems, pressure, temperature and level control, gas detection, DCS systems, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems
  • Developing and reviewing operational and maintenance procedures
  • Completing Maximo work orders and ensuring generation of new work requests to highlight plant and equipment failure
  • Raising relevant permits within the agreed time period to ensure that maintenance is completed in an efficient manner
  • Providing assistance for projects, working with vendors and sub-contractors as required
  • Complying with the requirements of Change Management policies, e.g. Plant Modifications Proposals
  • Employing Observation Safety Techniques (POST) to report safe and unsafe acts
  • Actively participating in a responsible waste management system
  • Attending and participating in the Operations shift meetings
  • Ensuring Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to and actively promoted at all times
Requirements:
  • Hold an accredited apprenticeship or an HNC equivalent in an engineering discipline
  • Previous experience in the Oil & Gas Industry is desirable
  • Experience working with ATEX equipment (Compex Trained) is desirable but not essential
