About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Healthcare Support Worker Apprentice. This exciting opportunity will provide you with hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment, while you develop valuable skills and knowledge through a structured apprenticeship program.

As a Healthcare Support Worker Apprentice, you will play a vital role in providing essential care and support to patients. You will work closely with experienced healthcare professionals, assisting with daily tasks, promoting patient well-being, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and person-centered care to patients, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and feeding, ensuring patient dignity and comfort.
  • Contribute to a safe and clean environment by maintaining hygiene standards and assisting with housekeeping tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, providing updates on patient status and addressing concerns.
  • Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge in healthcare support.

Essential Requirements

  • Meet Apprenticeship entry level 1 criteria in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications and grades.
  • Willingness to undertake the Level 2 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship.
  • Ability to work to agreed level of competency.
  • Good written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and apply them in the workplace.
  • Ability to write accurately and legibly.
  • Compassionate and caring nature.
  • Empathetic.
  • Reliable.
  • Passes pre-employment checks.
  • Able to work flexibly over a 24-hour period.
  • Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities.
  • Able, with appropriate support, to work in an emotionally demanding environment.
  • Must be able to attend apprenticeship training days (this could include travel to college/training provider location).
  • Understands the purpose and structure of the apprenticeship scheme.
