Job Title: SEN 1:1 Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced SEN 1:1 support specialist to work with a child in Reception with suspected ADHD and currently seeking a diagnosis.

About the Role

As a SEN 1:1 support specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding the child's needs, preferences, and gaining their trust
  • Supporting the child to maintain focus and engage in curriculum learning activities
  • Supporting the child to navigate social interactions and control behavioral issues
  • Understanding the child's behaviors and when they need support to regulate and find strategies that work for them to do this positively, minimizing impact on the class
  • Being a confidante and providing regular updates to the child's parent on progress and strategies that have worked and areas of improvement
  • Building the child's confidence and self-esteem in areas they may struggle
About the Candidate

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Previous experience in a 1:1 SEN role
  • An understanding of various SEN strategies and therapies to support the child to achieve positive academic and social outcomes
  • An ability to create positive relationships with pupils quickly and gain their trust
  • An understanding of ADHD and how it presents in girls
  • Excellent communication skills and an understanding of adapting communication skills with SEN children
