The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our youngest learners, helping them to develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to children with complex needs and non-verbal autism in the Early Years setting.
  • Assist with the implementation of personalized learning plans and interventions.
  • Utilize alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton, to support non-verbal children.
  • Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to monitor and review each child's progress.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with personal care needs, if required.
  • Engage children in play-based learning activities to promote their development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, providing regular updates on their child's progress and any concerns.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with complex needs and non-verbal autism, preferably in an Early Years setting.
  • A minimum of Level 2 qualification in Childcare.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods, such as PECS or Makaton, is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
