Senior System Engineer Job Description

A Senior Systems Engineer is required for our client based in Leeds for an initial 3-year fixed term contract. This is a hybrid position, with approximately 1-2 days on-site (subject to change with project demands), therefore only applicants who can commit to this should apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating services, including Azure and other cloud virtualized infrastructure, as well as on-premise implementations.
  • Configure, centrally manage, and secure the organization's server and endpoint services using Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft 365.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Ensure Microsoft 365 services are configured to allow secure collaboration internally and externally.
  • Expertly configure network infrastructure, firewalls, switches, and Azure environment.
  • Apply security, compliance, and governance skills to improve the infrastructure.
  • Be available for emergency out-of-hours work, taking ownership of problem incidents, investigating, and providing solutions.
  • Own the design creation of new or amended solutions, working closely with software developers to take a project from concept through to implementation readiness and transition to Live Services.
  • Be a senior subject matter expert for a broad range of new technologies, continually updating skills and knowledge to reflect modern new and emerging corporate computing solutions.
Requirements:
  • Experience of designing and delivering live systems that use Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power Platform, SharePoint, Microsoft Azure, and Power BI in a complex organization.
  • Comprehensive experience of working with Microsoft Azure, networks, storage, security, backups, system troubleshooting, and their lifecycle management.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional qualification or equivalent experience of managing all currently supported Microsoft server operating systems and databases that serve hundreds of users.
  • Practical experience of successfully performing with a broad range of technologies.
  • Practical experience of successfully performing in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and championing change successfully.
