Electrical Maintenance Technician

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our Estates Team at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining electrical services, plant, and non-medical equipment in a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of repairs, planned maintenance, and installation works on electrical services, plant, and non-medical equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on engineering installations, plant, and non-medical equipment.
- Undertake training and development to increase core trade knowledge and understand the basics of mechanical engineering/other trades.
- Communicate effectively with clients/visitors to ensure jobs are completed to their satisfaction.
- Project a good image of the Department by good conduct and demeanour.
- Organise and instruct staff of lower grades when under your control.
- Use relevant tools/specialist tools and calibrated equipment, PPE, and risk assessments on each task to ensure minimal H&S risk to self, staff, and public.
- Awareness and capability of the working of Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing Systems in NHS buildings.
- Instruct others on the above features and other aspects of his work.
- Design, manufacture, assemble, erect, and install new works and certify as required.
- Perform a basic range of work of other crafts, with appropriate training.
- Understand fully the inter-relationship between the various maintenance crafts and other groups.
- Carry out all duties of lower-grade craftsmen within the Trust, as requested.
Person Specification
- Self-motivated with the ability to direct staff of lower grades.
- Ability to work in difficult situations, including confined spaces and abnormal conditions.
- Access to a vehicle with the ability to drive within the district.
Requirements
- Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Demonstrable post-qualification experience, preferably on maintenance activities.
