Job Title – E-commerce Merchandising Specialist Location – Bury Manchester, BL9 8RR Working hours – 40 hours

Role Overview:

As a key member of the Digital Merchandising team, this position plays a crucial role in ensuring that our product selections are strategically positioned to align with customer preferences and market dynamics. The role encompasses a diverse mix of trend evaluation, product positioning, and inventory oversight, alongside resolving platform challenges and maintaining precise stock levels.
Working in close collaboration with the trading manager, the merchandiser will aid in forecasting and trend evaluations, influencing strategic merchandising choices that propel our business forward while analyzing daily sales data to make informed commercial decisions that effectively balance sales and inventory management.

Responsibilities:

Planning

Effectively managing product launches by ensuring timely preparation and analyzing performance metrics. Weekend launches are included (with compensatory time off). Coordinating the swift and efficient online presence of new products, utilizing product trackers, intake schedules, and KPI reporting to assess time-to-site performance. Documenting essential information for future reference, including key products, challenges, and significant events.

Trading

Conducting daily monitoring of reserved stock at the SKU level and performing comprehensive weekly reviews to manage inventory levels. Evaluating low-stock items in the warehouse for transfer from underperforming stores to maintain optimal sell-through rates. This includes liaising with core merchandising, warehouse, and retail teams to enhance transfer processing rates. Overseeing key replenishment efforts to support trading activities and ensuring teams are updated before and after site changes. Assessing stock levels across various business units and stores to effectively support online operations. Analyzing performance reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis to identify strengths and weaknesses, while comparing online performance to physical stores to bridge any gaps. Optimizing the website using merchandising algorithms and manual adjustments for key products. Conducting site inspections throughout the day to identify potential issues such as broken links, inaccurate product descriptions, and general site maintenance. Enhancing the site to improve customer experience and support marketing initiatives.

Team Collaboration

Collaborating closely with core merchandising, buyers, and marketing teams to approve all products for marketing efforts, maximizing the potential of stock and product ranges. Working alongside the broader digital marketing teams (PPC, SEO, Affiliates, ECRM) to ensure that all product-related activities, including keywords, rankings, and links, are appropriate. Contributing to the development of the merchandising team. Serving as the primary contact for new technologies implemented to enhance the site and manage general launch maintenance.

Role Objectives and KPIs:

Maintaining organized stock files. Implementing and adhering to best practices. Training, developing, and motivating team members. Fostering strong relationships with the Buying & Merchandising team. Identifying opportunities for improvement. Recognizing current challenges and proactively seeking resolutions.

Skills and Experience:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify potential issues and propose effective solutions prior to escalation. Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; SQL knowledge is advantageous but not mandatory. Demonstrated management and leadership experience. Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities. Highly organized with strong prioritization and time management skills. Experience in a sports or fashion retail environment is beneficial.
