Mechanical Commissioning Specialist

The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer plays a crucial role in the successful execution of commissioning tasks within the nuclear sector. This position is pivotal for ensuring that all commissioning activities are conducted safely and effectively, adhering to established processes and protocols.
Location & Compensation
Location: Seascale, Cumbria
Rate: £47.61 per hour Umbrella inside IR35
Contract Duration: 12 Months / Monday to Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the arrangements for controlling, witnessing, recording, and evaluating the outcomes of commissioning tests with safety implications.
- Implement the commissioning work scope according to a pre-defined strategy and timeline, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Adopt a proactive approach to safety, encompassing nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental considerations during commissioning activities.
- Monitor commissioning progress and performance, making necessary adjustments to maintain project integrity.
- Facilitate daily communication with team members to secure required permissions and mitigate project disruptions.
- Analyze and review commissioning test results to ensure compliance with standards.
- Integrate contributions from various project processes, including design, HAZOP, risk management, and contract management.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in commissioning mechanical systems within the nuclear industry.
- Minimum educational requirement: HNC/HND in an Engineering-related discipline or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in nuclear commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with project management principles; APM membership is advantageous.
- Competence in performing calculations using Excel.
Security Clearance
Ability to obtain BPSS and P4 Pass is essential for continued employment in this role.
Software Proficiency
Proficient in the latest versions of Microsoft Office software.
